Plastic Surgery consists of Aesthetic Surgery and Reconstructive Surgery and it is one of the few specialties that can operate on all body districts. Previously known in general terms as Plastic Surgery, nowadays it is better divided into its two main, different branches.
Reconstructive Surgery repairs skin’s or muscles’ loss of elasticity and helps sheltering exposed bones and joints. In particular, Reconstructive Surgery re-establishes the natural covering of the whole body, i.e. the skin.
Moreover, this particular branch of Plastic Surgery repairs congenital or acquired malformations, such as, for example, cheilopalatoschisis, craniofacial malformations, facial paralysis, syndromes with multiple malformations, angiomas and vascular malformations, scars resulting from removal of tumors from soft tissues.
