The Otorhinolaryngology (ENT) clinic at the San Rossore Healthcare Facility in Pisa is concerned with the study and care of the entire range of diseases affecting the anatomical regions of the head and neck, along with the ear, nose and paranasal sinuses, the oral cavity, the pharynx, larynx, salivary glands and the facial nerve and tear ducts.

For this purpose, cutting-edge diagnostic techniques such as rigid and flexible endoscopes are used routinely. These provide a means of achieving earlier, better diagnosis and provide a more targeted treatment.

An ENT examination does not usually require sedation and there are no age restrictions. The tests results are available immediately

Instrumental and diagnostic procedures are carried out in the Otorhinolaryngology clinic, such as:

  • fibrolaryngoscopy
  • rhinoscopy with rigid optics
  • tone audiometry and impedance screening
  • clinical examination of vestibular function
  • assessment and counselling for snoring and sleep apnoea.

The ENT clinic also works in close collaboration, in a multidisciplinary approach, with other services operating within the clinic: RadiologyDermatology, AllergologyPneumologyNeurology, Neurosurgery and Ophthalmology.

In the event of surgical indication, patients are given the opportunity to be treated in ordinary hospitalisation or as outpatients in the hospitalisation wards of the San Rossore Healthcare Facility, which is equipped with two operating theatres, state of the art technical equipment and an intensive care unit, and is therefore able to perform all types of surgical treatment, including those of high complexity.
