The area of Laboratory Medicine of San Rossore Medical Center is divided into two Sections:
a) Clinical Chemistry and Microbiology
b) Surgical Pathology: biopsies, clinical cytology, cervical cytology with molecular detection of HPV, molecular characterization of neoplasias.
The Laboratory support the clinical activities of San Rossore Medical Center both for inpatients and outpatients; it also accepts exam requests from outside.
The Clinical Chemistry and Microbiology Section is open 24 h/day for the inpatients; the Surgical Pathology has a very short waiting time: 24 h for clinical cytology, 48 h for biopsies, 72 h for surgical specimens.
