Personal care
The centre offers the following personal care services:
- Laundry service (int. 275): delivered to bedroom within 2 days
- Hairdresser: to book an appointment please contact the ward sister (int. 404)
Meals
The nursing staff orders meals for in-patients by filling in the relevant form and according to the instructions received by doctors.
Breakfast is served at 8am, lunch at 12.30pm, a snack at 4.30pm and dinner at 7pm. There is a cafeteria which is open at lunch time.
Meals are supplied by an external caterer and follow a seasonal menu. Changes can be made if the dietician suggests specific foods which are more suitable for the patient’s condition or due to religious beliefs.
Bringing food into the centre is strictly forbidden, even if it is not eaten in the in-patients department.
Café
Patients and visitors can enjoy a café service from Monday to Friday from 7.30am to 8pm, from 7.30am to 6pm on Saturday and from 7.30am to 1pm on Sundays.
The internal number for the café is 227.
Newsagents
Patients and visitors can buy newspapers and magazines from the café every day.
Wi-fi connection
The in-patients department and reception has a wi-fi internet connection.
Patient and visitor safety regulations
As per the current legislation, all the staff at the Medical Centre have been fully trained on how to act in case of emergency and the safety regulations are visible inside the centre. We therefore ask that all visitors and patients follow the instructions given by staff carefully.
Hotel comfort
The San Rossore Medical Centre pays particular attention to patient comfort: large rooms, a café (selling newspapers and magazines), cafeteria, bedrooms with electric adjustable beds, TV with Sky and digital, call button with microphone, internet connection, air conditioning, a safe and laundry service.
For safety reasons the bedrooms cannot be locked, so patients must take precautions to look after money and valuables in their possession. There is a safe in the wardrobe for this purpose.
Tourist deals
On request, patients of the San Rossore Medical Centre can enjoy tourist packages, which include:
- A stay in one of the three hotels belonging to the Soft Living Places chain (Hotel Byron in Forte dei Marmi, Hotel Plaza e de Russie in Viareggio and Green Park Resort in Tirrenia)
- Transfers to and from the hotel and the Medical Centre.
Visitor Access
Visiting hours for the in-patient department is unlimited between 7am and 10pm, depending on the medical rounds and requirements of the department.
Carers and visitors must comply with the instructions provided by the consultants and the staff of the Medical Centre for anything related to patient care.
