During the International Women Day on March 8th, San Rossore Medical Centre promoted an informative prevention campaign on breasts diseases, performed by the highly qualified expert Dr. Anna Cilotti, specialist in Breasts Radiodiagnosis at San Rossore Medical Centre, for women between 30 and 65 years of age.
After previous registration it was possible for the participants to get a free complete examination consisting of a not intrusive and painless breasts observation and palpation and, when required, further analysis by ultrasound.
The event obtained so great enthusiasm and participation that we decided to organize another session on March 31st, which saw twice the number of participants than the first edition.
“Prevention is the key : identifying the diseases at an early stage allows to get higher quality treatments and chances to recover.
By using all possible screening methods, such as mammography, ultrasound and mammary MRI, it is possible to get 99% diagnostic accuracy in finding carcinomas, which allows less intrusive treatments and higher chances to recover” Dr. Cilotti restates. “However, today only 30% of carcinomas is identified at an early stage; so, we strongly believe in the importance of making women aware both of the possibility of getting sick, but also of the possibility to recover thanks to accurate prevention.”
